Germany: Angela Merkel expects government to survive migrant row

Despite the quarrel over migration and asylum policies, German Chancellor Angela Merkel does not expect the German government to collapse, in comments made following a meeting with German Minister Presidents in Berlin on Thursday.
"The minister presidents' conference has affirmed that we need to work more concentrated on the many projects ahead of us and I assume that we will do so together," Merkel said.
The statement came amid a row inside the Germany's conservative bloc, consisting of Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Bavaria's Christian Social Union (CSU).
Merkel criticised CSU leader and German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer for threatening to issue unilateral orders to the Bavarian government to implement his so-called masterplan for migration, which includes turning back migrants at Germany's national border, if they lack ID or have already been registered in another EU country.
Merkel objects such a "go-it-alone" policy and advocates for a new EU-wide strategy over migrants.
