Greece: ANEL's Terence Quick dismisses rumours of coalition shake-up

Terence Quick, Greek deputy minister of State for Coordinating Government Operations and spokesman of the Independent Greeks (ANEL) political party refuted rumours that Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras may seek to replace ANEL with the centre-left To Potami party during a brief interview outside Maximos Mansion in Athens, Thursday. Quick stated that "the Independent Greeks party, in these times of national responsibility, won’t get into the logic of provocations,” adding that their still remained “extraordinary governmental cooperation” between his party and their coalition partners Syriza. The comments follow a report earlier in the day from the German newspaper BILD that Tsipras was moving closer to Stavros Theodorakis and his "To Potami" party, and away from the anti-immigration ANEL. Both parties have rejected the rumours, but Theodorakis will reportedly head to Brussels, Friday, to meet with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
