Two NATO frigates, the Spanish Alvaro de Bazan and the British Iron Duke, arrived in the port of Tallinn on Thursday, reportedly after participating in joint NATO anti-mining exercises in the Baltic Sea.
The warships are part of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 1. Both ships are due to stay in the Estonian capital until Sunday.
Naval forces of the Baltic states and other NATO members are taking part in the Baltic Fortress '16 military exercises in the waters of the Baltic between May 6-13.
Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 and Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 are both participating in the drills, which feature units from 10 countries. Organised this year by Latvia, the Baltic Fortress drills have taken place on a regular basis since 2008. The Estonian Navy is scheduled to host the next Baltic Fortress exercise.
