Omsk firefighters reminisced on their risque semi-nude New Years’ calendar on Wednesday, after the first of the racy releases, created to raise money for fire victims, sold old out in a matter of days.
“Initially, the calendar was supposed to be a New Years' present for friends and relatives” explained Vitaliy Khapilin, Deputy Head of Service in the city. However, the plan changed when the firefighters learned of similar calendars created by their French and Australian colleagues who had managed to earn some money for charity in the process.
Khapilin explained that after searching the internet for “the types of photos we could do”, they found that abroad emergency services had released nude calendars for charity purposes for more than 20 years.
The firefighters decided to go ahead with the photoshoot despite what firefighter Evgeniy Togov said was “a kind of hesitation”. He said “we do not do photoshoots every day. Usually we are on the other side of the camera so that was our first time in a studio, with a photographer.”
The money made from sales of the calendar will be given to people who fell victims to incidents of fire
