Russia: BRICS sign documents on enhanced cooperation

The leaders of the BRICS oversaw the signing of a number of cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening relations in fields from the economy to foreign policy and culture at the seventh BRICS summit in Ufa, Thursday. Among the most important documents signed was a memorandum on intended cooperation between members of the 'BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism' with the New Development Bank (NDB). The BRICS members also committed themselves to creating a joint online-administration website as well as consolidating various cultural partnerships within the association. This years BRICS summit comes ahead of the 15th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) which runs from July 9 to July 10 and also taking place in Ufa. In total, 10,000 visitors are expected at the two events.
