A Turkish police officer was killed and three more injured after a roadside bomb was detonated in the Yenikapi neighbourhood of Diyarbakir, Saturday. Turkish authorities have blamed the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) for the attack According to Turkish authorities, members of the PKK detonated a roadside bomb as a police vehicle was passing by. The attack comes after another Turkish police officer was shot dead while in his car with his wife and child in the Hani district of Diyarbakir on Friday. The officer's wife and 3-year old child were left unharmed in the attack. On Saturday the PKK called on its members to halt all guerilla activity in the country unless in self-defence to avoid preventing fair and just elections, planned to be held on November 1. The unilateral cease-fire announcement came three months after the PKK ended a two-year-old ceasefire and just hours after an attack on a group of pro-Kurdish and leftist activists killed 86 and injured 186 in Ankara.
