Turkish authorities have blamed the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) for the attack According to Turkish authorities, members of the PKK detonated a roadside bomb as a police vehicle was passing by. The attack comes after another Turkish police officer was shot dead while in his car with his wife and child in the Hani district of Diyarbakir on Friday.
