The frontrunner in Peru's presidential race Keiko Fujimori held her closing rally in Lima on Thursday night, ahead of Sunday's elections.
Daughter of the former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori, who is now imprisoned under charges of embezzlement and human rights violations, Keiko Fujimori's campaign has been fraught with controversy and strong opposition.
During a speech to her supporters, Fujimori addressed the opposition to her candidacy, claiming that the current President of Peru Ollanta Humala encouraged an anti-Fujimori march, "We have all witnessed as the president of the Republic encouraged this march against us. He is the president of all Peruvians and must act as such. We ask for him to be neutral in this electoral process."
The latest polls show Keiko Fujimori's "Fuerza Popular" party out in front, but former Prime Minister Pedro Pable Kuczynski and leftist member of Congress Veronika Mendoza are both expected to claim a strong portion of people's votes.
