Ukraine: Radical Party’s "mini-Maidan" continues to grow in size

23.10.2015
Oleg Lyashko's Radical Party added tents to the protest camp outside the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kiev, Thursday, demanding that the government slash utility prices. Party activists could be seen gathered around food and drink stalls as well as putting together additional tents, after the camp was initially set up on Wednesday. The Radical Party was set up by Oleh Lyashko in 2010 and holds 22 seats in the Ukrainian parliament. Although the party became a member of the coalition supporting the current second Yatsenyuk Government, they left it on 1 September 2015 in protest over a vote in parliament involving a change to the Ukrainian Constitution that would lead to decentralization and greater powers for the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DNR/DPR and LNR/LPR).
