Who Is Bernie Sanders? Learn About the Recent Presidential Candidate

The 2016 presidential race just got a little more crowded.
This morning Bernie Sanders announced his bid to run, becoming the first official competitor for democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.
Though certainly less of a bold name than most of the other candidates, Sanders is no novice to the Capital or life.
The 73-year-old second-term senator of Vermont has held seat in the Senate since 2007.
His mature campaign will focus on his own initiatives and merits.
With key topics including climate change, marriage and income equality, along with taxation as a means to propel minimum wages higher and expand social benefits.
Despite running on the democratic ticket, Sanders is an independent by declaration, and is currently the longest-serving independent in Congressional history.
Which in a presidential election makes him a long-shot anti-candidate.
