SOT, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson (Russian): "Evidently through such flagrant attempts to manipulate public opinion, Washington is just expressing its concern that Russia is going to strengthen its trade, economic and political ties between Russia and African countries, including those African countries which the US believes are their foothold. They haven't gotten used to the fact that countries of this region can choose their own partners. I believe such neo-colonial approach and attempts to enforce their will on sovereign states are refused by the overwhelming majority of the global community. African countries support multipolar and multilateral system of international relations where they can define their own future."

SOT, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson (Russian): "We are concerned about the security of captured IS fighters who remain in the prisons of the Euphrates region and their family members currently in the camps for internally displaced people, including such camps as Al-Haul with 70,000 people remaining there. They are a threat not only for Syria itself, but also for other countries in the region and beyond the region. This being the case, we call upon all the sides to show their restraint and thoroughly think about their actions to prevent escalation. We are convinced that sustainable and long-term stability and security in this part of Syria as well as in the counry and in the region in general is only possible on the basis of restoring the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This means to transfer all the Syrian areas, including the Syrian-Turkey border under the control of the legitimate Syrian government." *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE*

SOT, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson (Russian): "Apparently they [three Americans] sent a reques to the Russian Defence Ministry and had their request granted to visit Arkhangelsk. It was specifically for the city of Arkhangelsk, not some other places in the area. Instead of doing that they rented a car with Russian licence plates and arrived to Severodvinsk, which is also interesting, where they boarded a train and went to a village, which is close to the testing fields and other defence facilities. When American officers arrived there, they were stopped by the police patrol and explained that they had come to a restricted area, since they had no access papers, and they could not have had any, because they had not applied for it. In this regard the Americans were offered the opportunity to take the same train back [to Severodvinsk], and they did so. They were not detained. As far as we know, they took a car back to Moscow in Severodvinsk. Maybe they have already arrived. You better ask them to clarify." *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE*

SOT, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson (Russian): "Unfortunately in her [Maria Butina's] case Russian citizens are being groundlessly prosecuted by the United States, which looks politically motivated. Whereas the fact that Mr. Whelan was a spy and it was not contested by our American partners in our working communications. On the record the official representatives of the US still express their concern about his fate, coming up with all sorts of numerous arguments. Still, diplomats of the US and of other countries have been provided access to him. His statements regarding alleged torture or threaths against his life are just provocations and can be considedred as a provocative defence strategy." *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE*

All Syrian territories including the Syria-Turkey border zone should be controlled by Damascus, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated at her weekly press briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
She said the only way to bring peace to the region was to restore Syria's "sovereignty and territorial integrity" by shifting control to the government led by President Bashar al-Assad.
The spokesperson went on to discuss the case of three US diplomats, who were caught by police on Monday in northern Russia near a closed and restricted military testing site.
Zakharova said the diplomats had informed Russia's Defence Ministry that their destination was the city of Arkhangelsk.
"Instead of doing that they rented a car with Russian licence plates and arrived to Severodvinsk, where they boarded a train and went to a village, which is close to the testing fields and other defence facilities," she said.
Police had then stopped the US trio in the village and asked them to take the train back to Severodvinsk.
"They were not detained. As far as we know, they took a car back to Moscow in Severodvinsk. Maybe they have already arrived. You better ask them to clarify," the spokesperson concluded.
US State Department commented on the incident saying the diplomats "were on official travel and had properly notified Russian authorities of their travel."
In August seven people died following a blast at a military testing field near the village of Nenoksa in the Arkhangelsk region.
