Russian President Vladimir Putin urged the Head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov and the temporary acting Governor of Sevastopol, Dmitri Ovsyannikov to "work together hand in hand" during a meeting to discuss their respective region’s socio-economic situations at the Tavrida International Youth Forum at Stereguscheye village in the Bakal Spit on south-west of the Crimean Peninsula, Friday.
Putin said it was of the utmost importance to "systematically improve the income of the residents of Crimea and Sevastopol" asserting that this would resolve all other outstanding issues whether "social issues, issues of housing and communal nature, of preschool institutions or schools."
Also discussed at the meeting, were measures for the development of the internal road network. Putin confirmed that "five billion roubles will be additionally appropriated" for this purpose.
Earlier in the day, the President met with the permanent members of Russia’s Security Council to discuss security in the region.
