Schools were closed in Hong Kong on Monday due to safety concerns, the Hong Kong Education Bureau announced, as violence between protesters and police continued to escalate.
"I don't know whether there will be an announced suspension of schools tomorrow it depends very much on the situation in Hong Kong nowadays," said Hugo, principal of the Tsung Tsin Christian Academy. "For the students, even though they can't come back to school to have schooling, but they will have online teaching to help them well use of the time to brush up their school work."
The latest announcement, which came on Sunday, suspending all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, extended an earlier suspension which started on Thursday and was due to end on Sunday.
Hong Kong has been rocked by protests sparked by a now-withdrawn extradition bill since March. The rallies have since evolved into a wider movement against the government, marked by violent clashes between protesters and the authorities.
