Pro-independence protesters gathered in front of Barcelona's city hall on Tuesday, with renewed calls for Catalonia to secede from Spain following the sentencing of Catalan leaders.
Thousands of protesters are seen waving Catalan flags and held banners in front of city hall.
"We saw that things haven't worked out through the legal process. We need to continue to fight, apply pressure, and pressure Europe to help us achieve our goals," said one protester.
Spain's Supreme Court convicted twelve independence leaders on Monday, including former Catalan Vice President Oriol Junqueras, for their role in the autonomous region's attempt to secession and holding an illegal independence referendum in 2017. Nine of the pro-independence convicted were given jail sentences ranging from nine to 12 years.
