The authorities of the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics (DPR/LPR) announced that they have postponed their local elections, OSCE envoy in Ukraine Martin Sajdik confirmed in Minsk, Tuesday. Speaking to the press on behalf of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, Sajdik added that the contact group has started working on a draft for a special law on the local elections in the Lugansk and Donetsk areas. Earlier in the day, the spokespersons of the DPR and LPR Denis Pushilin and Vladislav Deynego in a joint statement announced that the local elections, planned to be held on October 18 in Donetsk and November 1 in Lugansk, will be postponed until next year. In response, the republics demanded a complete implementation of the political agenda of the Minsk Agreements of February 12 by Kiev.
