USA: At least 2 dead after Illinois tornado wreaks havoc

Governor of Illinois Bruce Rauner met with local residents affected by the tornado in the Rochelle area on Friday. Reports indicate that the tornado had a radius as large as 50 miles (81 km). The winds left many buildings unrecognisable, even knocking some down completely. Two people were killed and at least seven were injured as large tornado left a trail of destruction in Illinois the previous day. Buildings were demolished or damaged, and people were trapped or stranded. Emergency services were working round the clock as winds of up to 80 mph (129 km/h) tore through Hillcrest, Rochelle and Kings. A recovery operation is now underway with many locals volunteers to help with the process.
