Fleeing animals find sanctuary from wildfires sweeping through California

Dogs, cats, goats, and even a donkey found refuge from the raging Camp Fire that has scorched parts of California, thanks to a local resident who took them off the streets into a sheltered haven in Chico, California, footage filmed on Monday shows.
Dan Sauvageau, a 39-year-old developer from Roseville, California, was ‘recruited’ by the county’s animal protection services when they saw him evacuating animals he found on the streets with a livestock trailer.
Dan and his friends rescued over 14 dogs on Sunday alone.
California animal protection services estimate that over 10,000 pets have been displaced due to the Camp Fire. As many as 150,000 people have been displaced by in the blaze, with over 7000 structures burnt in the fires.
The death toll for wildfires in Northern California has risen to 42, making it the deadliest fire and most destructive in the state's history.
