Turkish forces were approaching the town of Manbij on Monday, in a bid to oust Kurdish-led fighters from the north-eastern Syrian city.
The move comes after the Syrian government reached a deal with Kurdish forces to help repel the advancing Turks amid Ankara's incursion in the region.
Earlier in the day, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) entered Tal Tamr and Ain Issa in northern Syria, in accordance with the agreement which sees the Syrian government troops deployed along the border to assist Kurdish groups in their fight against the Turkish offensive.
Ankara's military offensive dubbed 'Operation Peace Spring' began on October 9, with the aim of creating a 'safe zone' in northern Syria cleared of Kurdish forces.
