Protesters gathered in front of the Central Bank of Lebanon in Beirut on Tuesday chanting slogans against its governor Riad Salameh as anti-government protests entered its sixth consecutive day.
The demonstrations continued despite country's Prime Minister Saad Hariri's announcement of the economic reform package during a televised address on Monday.
"I believe that today is the beginning of the true revolution because we knew where to protest. Today we started from the Central Bank of Lebanon and, God willing, the revolution will continue in other sectors," said Milad Haddad, one of the protesters.
Footage shows protesters holding banners reading "We want to through the governance of the bank" and "Yes to the restoration of stolen money."
"I think in the coming days there will be a clash between a government that wants to impose its opinion by force and between a social and popular movement trying to crystallize itself and impose its opinion," said another protester, Sarkis abou-Zaid.
Lebanon's current demonstrations are believed to be the country's biggest since 2015, as people protest against deteriorating living conditions, austerity measures, capital flight and the rise of the deficit and public debt.
