Liberal Party supporters celebrated at Montreal's Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Monday, after leader Justin Trudeau was announced as Canada's next prime minister. Trudeau will be the second in his family crowned with the title following his father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau who was prime minister of Canada from 1968 to 1979. Leader of the Conservative Party Stephen Harper who was seeking his fourth consecutive mandate as prime minister lost out to Trudeau in a late surge of critical last minute votes. The Liberals ,who held only 36 seats at the time of Parliament's dissolution won with a majority, making Trudeau the first new leader in nearly 10 years.
