For the first time Dubai police unveiled Robocop, a hi-tech Police officer at GITEX Technology Conference at the World Trade Centre in Dubai, Sunday. The Robocop was presented to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. Sam Pfeiffer, Robotics Engineer at PAL Robotics the company that created Robocop, said that the robot has autonomous behaviours, like the ability to "start conversations." Users will also have the ability to "drive" the robot using a connected tablet device, according to Pfeiffer. As well as these abilities, Robocop will be able to speak six languages and aims to assist residents and visitors in streets, malls and in tourist hotspots such as Downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa. It is set for release in 2017. The 35th GITEX technology week is being held from the 18-22 of October 2015 in the UAE.
