Thousands of Iranian worshippers joined a procession in Tehran on Saturday, as part of the annual observance of Arbaeen.
"As long as we, the Iranians and the Iraqis, are here, and as long as Imam Hussein is in our hearts, neither the US nor the Trump's government are able to do anything," said one Tehran resident.
Another resident noted that "this unity between Muslims across the world will not be [broken] by any conspiracies and plots, and this is the flame of a fire that is getting bigger day by day."
Arbaeen is observed 40 days after Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson and the third Shiite Imam, Hussein ibn Ali, in the Battle of Karbala in the seventh century.
The Arbaeen pilgrimage, which takes place in the Iraqi city of Karbala, is the largest annual religious gathering in the world.
