The Commander of the U.S. Army Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges visited the training area of the NATO military drills in Rukla, Thursday.
“We are all committed to defending our allies,” stated the general, adding “The President has asked for 3.4 billion dollars, just for next year additional money for ERI – the European Reinsurance Initiative - the US commitment."
The Mechanized Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" kicked off the military exercises, with the participation of the allied forces. The drills are aimed at ensuring international security and stability in the North and Baltic seas.
Recently, President Obama announced the plans to fourfold the European Reassurance Initiative (ERI) funding up to $3,4 billion (€3,04 billion) for 2017.
