A spontaneous protest saw thousands descend on the Macedonian Parliament in Skopje, Tuesday, after opposition leader Zoran Zaev hurled fresh accusations at the government. Zaev alleged that the country’s leadership and the interior minister plotted to cover up the 2011 police killing of 21-year-old Martin Neskovski. Neskovski was filmed being beaten to death by police during the election-victory celebrations in Skopje, for the political party VMRO-DPMNE. The accusations brought the family of Neskovski to the demonstration. Clashes broke out allegedly when the parents and brother of Neskovski attempted to jump a police barricade. The Macedonian Interior Minister, Gordana Jankuloska, has dismisses Zaev’s allegations, accusing him of manipulating the facts for political gain.
