The Venezuela, Bolivian and Ecuadorian leaders gathered along many of their Latin American counterparts as thousands of supporters attended the closing ceremony of the "Second World People's Conference on Climate Change" in the municipality of Quillacollo in Bolivia's region of Cochabamba, Monday, ahead of the high-profile climate change summit in Paris that begins on November 30. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro addressed the audience during the ceremony, demanding "courage" and "one voice" in order to ensure the will of the people is reflected in the outcome of the summit in Paris. Evo Morales, the President of Bolivia, assured the audience that Latin America's leftist governments will "defend" the people in the French capital and not the "empires." Delegates from 40 countries attended the two-day event, including state and union leaders as well as political activists including Indigenous leaders.
