Violent Start to 'sham Elections' in Burundi

A grenade has exploded near a polling station in Burundi as parliamentary elections, already hit by an opposition boycott and international condemnation, got off to a stuttering start.
The attack on Monday in the capital, Bujumbura, was the latest incident in weeks of turbulence triggered by a defiant bid for a third term by the president, Pierre Nkurunziza.
Almost four million people are registered to vote in the parliamentary polls, which precede Nkurunziza’s run in presidential elections on 15 July.
