Ottawa woke up to the news that a liberal government has been voted into office, Tuesday morning, as depicted by the headlines in various newspapers. Some were covered with photos of the forty-three-year-old new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau, a former teacher, is the second in his family to be crowned with the title following his father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who was prime minister of Canada from 1968 to 1979. Leader of the Conservative Party Stephen Harper, who was seeking his fourth consecutive term as prime minister, lost out to Trudeau in a late surge of critical votes. The Liberals, who held only 36 seats at the time of Parliament's dissolution won with a majority, making Trudeau the first new leader of Canada in almost 10 years.
