Head of Greenpeace Sweden Annika Jacobs commented on the organistation's recent bid to take over the German lignite operations of Swedish energy giant Vattenfall in Berlin, Tuesday. Speaking at Greenpeace's Berlin office, Jacobson confirmed that Greenpeace, if successful, will create a foundation funded by the Swedish and German governments along with Vattenfall, to phase out all operations in a "predictable and sustainable way" by 2030. Despite noting that neither Germany nor Sweden is taking political action or responsibility to reach this goal, Jacobson stressed the necessity that they do in future. "In the end if two countries like Germany and Sweden cannot solve this, then how can we believe the world will save climate change," Jacobson concluded.
