08.05.2016
At least one thousand activists marched through the streets of Madrid, Saturday, to protest against the controversial Citizen Security Law, also known as the "Gag Law."
Activists waved flags and held banners with messages such as "against their repression, our revolution" as well as others depicting political prisoners in Spain like 'Alfon' or Andres Bodalo. The protest was called by the organisation "Coordinadora 25S", along with some other organisations including the Communist Youth Union of Spain (UJCE)
The Citizen Security Law - commonly referred to as the 'gag law' - permits fines of up to €600,000 ($733,770) for unauthorised protests outside buildings that provide 'basic services to the community.' It also prohibits the photographing or filming of police officers, with those prosecuted potentially facing fines of up to €30,000 ($36,689).
