On an occasion known as 'Surprise Day,' military and government officials gathered in Karachi for an airshow on Thursday, intended to mark the date last year when Pakistan downed two Indian fighter jets within Pakistani airspace.
Jets spewed green and white smoke - the colours of Pakistan's national flag - across the sky and performed a series of manoeuvres as spectators looked on.
The so-called 'Operation Swift Retort' was deployed as a retaliation to a failed bombing and subsequent retreat by Indian fighter jets on February 27, 2019, leading to military honours for the victorious pilots.
The aerial dogfight was only one in a series of incidents over the contested territory of Kashmir, which has brought India and Pakistan to war on multiple occasions.
