Star Hollywood actress and activist Jane Fonda was arrested while demonstrating against climate change and calling for the Green New Deal in front of the US Capitol building in Washington D.C. on Friday.
The 81-year-old actress, who has vowed to be arrested every Friday morning until the day the Green New Deal is made official, can be spotted giving a speech minutes before being taken into custody.
Fonda's fellow co-star in the Grace & Frankie show, Sam Waterston, can also be seen being arrested as part of the civil disobedience initiative.
'Fire Drill Fridays' is the name of the initiative started by Fonda to bring awareness to climate change, and focuses on demanding the implementation of the 'Green New Deal', the respect of indigenous land and sovereignty, environmental justice, protection and restoration of biodiversity and the implementation of sustainable agriculture.
