English football club Tottenham Hotspurs' superfan didn't lose his spirit when his request to change his name officially to 'Tottenham' was rejected by the Swedish authorities and is ready for a legal battle, as footage filmed in the Swedish city of Kumla on Sunday shows.
The fan, 39-year-old David Lind, requested the name change after winning a competition by Svenska Spel which regulates gambling market in Sweden, but the country's tax agency responded with rejection.
"They don't think that it is a Swedish name, but there are many other similar alternatives, but there was a new law in 2017 that makes it harder to change your name, but there are football clubs that people have changed their names to after 2017, so I'm going to appeal," stressed Lind. The reported reason for rejection was that the name doesn't sound Swedish.
Lind added that he has a lawyer and is "going that route, so that I can do it right and good, because I'm going to be called Tottenham, I'll do anything I can."
