Syria: Former IS stronghold Manbij slowly returns to normal after liberation

Scores of displaced residents of the former IS stronghold Manbij in Aleppo province returned to the city on Saturday, after its liberation from the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL).
"We returned to our city. The shops have begun to open again. People return to their homes. It has become safer," said a local, while a shop owner drew attention to the lack of essential supplies such as drugs, bread, heating oil, gasoline, sugar and butter.
The second largest city in the Aleppo governorate had witnessed a 73-day offensive by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who with the help of the US-led coalition's airstrikes, forced the last militants to leave the city using civilians as human shields. Manbij had been under IS control since 2014.
