Therefore the first decision we took when the forces entered from the north was to issue a remission in the form of a conciliation, to make everyone ready to fight against the invasion, taking in consideration that the vast majority of those who were fighting alongside terrorist groups were helpless people. The second step was to reach out to other powers in the political and military field to discuss possible actions that could be taken in response to this invasion, and we are ready to support any social resistance group keen to fight against the Turkish invasion. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad made a rare appearance at the north-western frontline in Idlib governorate as he visited SAA troops in the town of al-Hobeit on Tuesday.
Footage shows soldiers surrounding Assad as he addressed them saying "The truth is, if there was no will, there wouldn't have been any victories. This will is the will of the people, it is the power that lead to these victories and the Armed forces brought about these victories in the best way possible."
Assad added saying "At this moment we are not in a position to put the blame on others, we are now in the midst of a battle and the right path is only to mobilise our efforts to decrease the damage caused by the invasion and to expel the invader sooner or later."
Turkey's military offensive, dubbed ‘Operation Peace Spring’ began on October 9, days after the White House announced a withdrawal of US troops from the area. Ankara says the aim of the offensive is to establish a 'safe zone' in north eastern Syria.
