Swedish teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the audience at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York City on Monday.
In her speech, Thunberg urged the older generations to take action against climate change, warning that "will be watching you."
"This is all wrong, I shouldn't be up here, I should back in school on the other side of the ocean yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you. You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words," she stressed.
Merkel in turn pledged to phase out coal by 2038 amongst other targets, while Macron called on all countries to act "powerfully," saying "we need to move towards carbon neutrality by 2050."
The summit took place at the start of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
