Senate Has Brief Window to Resolve Dispute, Act on Lynch Nomination

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell withdrew another doomed vote on sex trafficking legislation Thursday morning, which offers hope that lawmakers can resolve an impasse over abortion that has stalled the confirmation of Loretta Lynch to be attorney general. With Democrats poised to block the latest trafficking proposal offered by the GOP, which still included restrictions on abortion spending, McConnell scratched what would have been the fifth failed vote on the measure in a month.
