Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) is expecting a loss of $6 million (€5.37 million) in total due to Russia's move to close its airspace to Ukrainian airliners, the CEO of UIA Yuri Miroshnikov said in Kiev, Friday. The airline will lose Russian passengers and all its operations in Russia, resulting in a $30 million (€26.87 million) loss for the company, Miroshnikov explained. A retaliatory move against a Ukrainian ban of Aeroflot, Transaero, and other Russian airlines starting from October 25, Russia will close its airspace to Ukrainian flights also starting from October 25. Earlier in the month, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced the widening of sanctions against Russian individuals and companies over the crisis in east Ukraine, reportedly targeting 90 companies and 400 officials.
