Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded a number of outstanding figures in the fields of science and technology, literature, art and humanitarian work with the State Prize of the Russian Federation at a ceremony held in the Kremlin in Moscow, Thursday. The ceremony was held at the beginning of Russia Day, Russia's national holiday. Among those to receive awards were composer Aleksandra Pakhmutova, academics Evgeniy Kablov and Gennadiy Krasnikov, actress Chulpan Khamatova and filmmaker Alexander Sokurov. The State Prize of the Russian Federation was established in 1992, replacing the USSR State Prize.
