Four Ferrybridge Power Station's cooling towers were demolished on Sunday morning in West Yorkshire, as part of the transition to low-carbon energy. Dozens of locals gathered on the roadside and in fields nearby to watch the controlled demolition.
More than 140 homes were evacuated and Stranglands Lane, which runs close to the power station, was closed for much of the day as part of the demolition process.
The move has already been called a "significant milestone in the history of the UK energy industry."
