The most ironically aware pigeons in South America attacked Arequipa's Mayor Alfred Zegarra as he was giving a televised interview on how to eradicate the birds from the city's main square, Tuesday. The 65-year-old was in the process of complaining that the overabundance of pigeons was ruining the town's image when the flock attacked; pecking the beleaguered mayor, who carried on the interview regardless. Zegarra wishes to humanely eradicate the pigeons ahead of the city hosting the International Summit of World Heritage Cities later in November. The birds, however, may have something to say about it.
