South Korean health officials are cleaning public places like groceries to wipe out the MERS virus, which has now claimed the lives of 14 people. On Saturday, it health ministry reported 12 new cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome also known as MERS, bringing the total to 138. The lower number of reported cases is encouraging news for the nation, but health officials expect to see more new cases.
The ministry said A 67-year-old woman who contracted the MERS virus from an existing patient became the 14th person to die in the outbreak. Only the elderly or people suffering serious existing sicknesses have died from the virus.
