Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko cast his vote in the country's presidential elections at a polling station in the Minsk Sports Academy, Sunday, with the help of his son Nikolai 'Kolya' Lukashenko. Speaking at a press conference after voting, Lukashenko praised Belarus' relationship with Russia. "Russia has always been with us economically and politically, they are not just our friend but our brothers, whether anyone likes it or not," he stated. The Belarusian president referenced the so-called "revolutions" of Libya, Syria and Ukraine, saying that his main principle in Belarus is that "everything should be quiet without revolutions," adding that "I am not going to deviate from my main principle," adding that "I do not want to fight but if we, God forbid, have to do it, the matter will not be in the air bases. The case will be that we will beat to death as it was before; we will fight together with Russians, with the Russian people and with all those who want to support us here for the Belarus territory." Lukashenko also played down rumours that he had agreed to allow a Russian air base on Belarusian territory. "Putin and I really did not discuss this issue, I swear that we have not discussed it. The media just pulled this information, probably from the Russian government meeting and spread it without any reason. Alexander Lukashenko has been president of Belarus since 1994 and is currently completing his fourth term in office. Polling stations will be open until 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT) and the results of the elections will be announced on Monday morning.
