McIlroy Seven Shots Off Lead in First Round of US Open

World number one Rory McIlroy is seven shots off the early lead in the first round of the US Open after opening with a two-over-par 72 at Chambers Bay. The Northern Irishman had two birdies and two bogeys in his opening seven holes and after a run of eight pars, bogeyed two of his last three. Sweden's Henrik Stenson birdied four of his last five holes to join America's Dustin Johnson as leader on five under. Former champions Tiger Woods and Justin Rose are among the later starters.
