Indiana Lawmakers Announce Revised Religious Freedom Law

Republican leaders in Indiana announced a deal Thursday morning that would change the state’s new Religious Freedom Restoration Act to make sure it does not permit businesses in the state to discriminate against LGBT customers, telling reporters that the law was never meant to discriminate against anyone.Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma said Thursday,
“What was intended as a message of inclusion, inclusion of all religious beliefs, was interpreted as a message of exclusion, especially for the LGBT community. Nothing could be further from the truth, but it was clear the perception had to be addressed,”
