Apple passed a new milestone during the keynote presentation at its World Wide Developers Conference Monday. Not for any of the new products it unveiled or metrics it announced but for who was onstage.
For the first time in company history, two women crossed the Moscone Center stage during the keynote: Jennifer Bailey, vice president of worldwide online stores, and Susan Prescott, vice president of of product management and marketing.
The tech industry's lack of diversity has come under increasing scrutiny recently as Silicon Valley tech giants like Apple, Google and Pinterest release internal diversity data.
For his part, Apple CEO Tim Cook has acknowledged there is still much work to be done, though he recently emphasized Apple's commitment to making its workforce more diverse.
