The foreign ministers from the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), met at Ciudad Mitad del Mundo, Saturday, to discuss the aid effort to Ecuador following the deadly earthquake that struck the country on April 16.
During his intervention the Foreign Minister of Ecuador, Guillaume Long showed gratitude for the support, adding that the country still needs "tents, folding beds, water treatment plants to have drinking water, as well as health supplies and food."
After the end of the meeting, the UNASUR General Secretary Ernesto Samper, spoke on the threat of impeachment to Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, stating "it's one of the subjects that we are most concern about, because we can see the process is moving too fast in the impeachment direction but we with a total lack of evidence."
The death toll in Ecuador's earthquake has now risen to 648, according to a statement from the nation's emergency management department, while an estimated 12,500 people are injured and 130 still unaccounted for.
