Russia: Search and rescue operations ongoing at Rostov-on-Don crash site - Puchkov

A major operation is underway at Russia's Rostov-on-Don Airport, Saturday, according to the Minister of Emergencies Situations Vladimir Puchkov, after the fatal FlyDubai airliner crash claimed the lives of all 62 passengers and crew on board.
Speaking to press at the airport, Puchkov said work will be conducted "around the clock" to recover parts of the plane, with the area divided into "seven sections and in each of these sections is being examined centimetre by centimetre," stated Puchkov.
"All federal structures are involved" and a "total 850 people and more than 100 pieces of equipment are working at the site," according to Puchkov.
Puchkov also expressed his "deepest condolences and compassion to each family. This is a big loss for all of us and we will do everything possible to support each family in this difficult situation." He reported that "the governor of the region and I also discussed the possibility of the additional assistance to all families of the victims."
The FlyDubai passenger Boeing 737-800 travelling from Dubai to Rostov-on Don, crashed near the runway on its second landing approach early on Saturday morning. Ambulances and police arrived at the airport with EMERCOM teams also deployed to sift through the wreckage and secure the scene of the crash.
