Eighteen military squads arrived from fourteen different countries within the NATO participated in the European Best Squad Competition, a multinational event hosted by the U.S. Army at the Grafenwoehr Training Area, Wednesday. Units of nine soldiers began engaging in a three-day competition consisting of mental and physical obstacles and tasks, aimed at testing their combat skills, endurance, stamina, agility and strength. The competition kicked off on Monday and will last until tomorrow, Thursday. The European Best Squad Competition is made of both individual and team events, in which multinational squads will also go through timed challenges to show their knowledge and experience in several areas, such as medical evacuations, land orientation, weapon qualifications, and offensive and defensive manoeuvres. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday. Participating countries include Albania, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
