SCRIPT
Dozens of activists led by the controversial vegan cookbook author and conspiracy theorist Attila Hildmann rallied near the Federal Chancellery in Berlin on Saturday.
Demonstrators were chanting slogans against the COVID-19 restrictions while holding anti-lockdown banners. Many of them were seen ignoring the required social distance.
Hildmann, who was detained by the police at previous anti-lockdown protests, called for weekly demonstrations near the Chancellery and the Bundestag. But the numbers of participants appeared to fall as the government began relaxing social restrictions.
According to the latest data published by Johns Hopkins University, Germany has registered a total 183,025 coronavirus cases, with at least 8,526 deaths linked to the disease.
