The special advisor to the United Nations special envoy for Syria, Jan Egeland, joined the special envoy, Staffan de Mistura, for a press conference in Geneva on Thursday.
Following the weekly meeting of the Humanitarian Taskforce on Syria, Egeland updated the media on the current humanitarian situation in the country. "You know, we are hanging in by our finger nails in these areas [in active combat zones]," Egeland said. "If the fighting continues, it is not going to be possible to be able to keep up even the delivery [of humanitarian aid] we have today," he warned.
He expressed special concern for the towns of Madaya and Zabadani in southern Syria, and Foua and Kefraya in Idlib. According to Egeland, the situation was dire as the towns have not received deliveries since the end of April.
