German Chancellor Angela Merkel sent her video address to the audience. "BMW is a trade mark that stands for long traditions, high levels of engineering art and drive for driving," she stated, adding that "BMW sets trends and always new goals."
Other events to mark 100 years of BMW include exhibitions in Munich at BMW Welt and its museum, where key models from its past are displayed. From September 9 to 11, a special festival will be held across the grounds of the Olympic Park in Munich.
